B. POD Operations <br />1. Determine Commodity Needs. The Emergency Management Coordinator will <br />determine what commodities are needed and the initial amount required for the County. <br />This calculation will be on the overall situation, existing census data and estimated <br />population densities. <br />2. Determine POD Locations. The Emergency Management Coordinator will determine <br />which POD sites will be used. This decision is based on the EM Coordinator's estimate <br />of the situation, which will consider the population affected, the location needed to <br />effectively provide assistance, the access to that site, the ability to support operations <br />efficiently and security issues. <br />3. Notification <br />a. The EM Coordinator will determine which County personnel, volunteer agencies, or <br />nongovernmental organizations are needed to activate and operate a POD. <br />b. The EM Coordinator will direct the EOC staff will notify those personnel and <br />organizations to prepare to activate a POD site. The EOC staff will provide the <br />following information to the individual designated as the Site Manager. <br />• Location of the POD <br />• Time and date POD will open <br />• Type and quantities of commodities that will be delivered <br />• Estimated date and time of the first supply shipment <br />• Amount and location of site support equipment. <br />c. If personnel needed for the POD operations do not belong to the Site Manager's <br />organization, the EOC staff will notify those personnel where and when to report and <br />the name of the Site Manager. <br />d. At the request of the Emergency Management Coordinator, the Cabarrus County <br />Warning Point will notify designated POD staff that the distribution point will be <br />activated. <br />e. The Emergency Management Coordinator will notify NCEM using WebEOC and <br />report which POD sites are activated and operational. <br />4.
