The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) has 124 <br />registered teams. Teams are ranked throughout the season as they <br />play in tournaments within their conferences. The Carolina TarWheels <br />play within the Carolina Wheelchair Basketball Conference and were <br />one of 25 teams in the nation invited to play in the National <br />Championship Tournament. The Carolina TarWheels competed in <br />seven games over a four -day period at the National Championship <br />Tournament before their final victory over the San Diego Wolf Pack. <br />The Carolina TarWheels are proud to bring home the National <br />Championship to Cabarrus County. <br />The Carolina TarWheels basketball team players are as follows: <br />Donnie Langford, Pete Morgan, Jim Goodwin, Steve Lister, Roger White, <br />Donna Barnett, Trey Bates, David Hix, Richard Travis, Eric Penniger and <br />Jennifer Langford. <br />Mission Statement: "The Carolina TarWheels sports program is <br />dedicated to enhancing the lives of persons with disabilities by <br />providing opportunities to develop the person as a whole, by <br />promoting health, fitness, and education through sport, recreational <br />and social activities. We promote accessibility, participation, and <br />integration while offering a program that is enjoyable and meaningful <br />to participants." <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Commend the Carolina TarWheels on their National Championship <br />victory.
