This category of participation will include individuals who are <br />seeking a career in farming. They must meet the following requirements before being <br />considered for the Beginning Farmer Program: <br />1. 8o hours of training at Lomax or other area farms <br />2. Completion of an introductory course in farming <br />3. Completion of trial production period at Lomax <br />4. Development and maintenance of production, business and transition plans <br />5. Regular meetings with Lomax staff <br />The Program Manager will be responsible for participants in the Beginning Farmer <br />Program. Beginning Farmers will be provided with access to land, equipment and <br />, ,. A, „ �� training in an effort to help them develop <br />their farming business. Beginning <br />Farmers will be expected to begin <br />transitioning onto their own landbase and <br />off of the Lomax Farm after three years in <br />the program. Lomax will seek to partner <br />with Soil and Water Conservation District <br />of Cabarrus County and local land trusts <br />as well as the existing farming community <br />to help make this process a success for <br />each Beginning Farmer. <br />Attachment number 3 <br />G -2 Page 176 <br />
