This category of participation includes citizens who are interested in
an informal working relationship with the farm over a short period of time. This would
include individuals who want to help out at the farm occasionally. Past examples
include a Boy Scout looking to fulfill Scouting requirements through the completion of a
community service project and companies who want to provide their employees with an
opportunity to volunteer.
Students. This category of participation will include any individual who registers for a
learning opportunity with one of the partnering educational institutions: Cooperative
Extension, RCCC, or UNCC. The sponsoring institution will be responsible for
providing the learning opportunity and for oversight of their participants. These
institutions will also work directly with the Farm Manager and Training Coordinator to
ensure that learning opportunities are coordinated with farm activities.
This category will also include a
formalized Internship Program. This
program would include individuals who
want to learn more about agricultural
production and are willing to sign up to
work at Lomax for a fixed period of time.
The Farm Manager will be responsible for
participants in the Internship Program.
Details of the Lomax Internship Program
will be further developed in 2014, with
interns first being hosted at Lomax in 2015
Attachment number 3
G -2 Page 175
