Schwab c��J <br />Associate Director and Director of County Operations <br />DATE: August 16, 2013 <br />SUBJECT: Special Leave for the 2013 -2014 Fiscal Year <br />As you are aware, the State Legislature awarded 40 hours of Special Leave for fiscal year 2013 -2014. 1 am <br />writing today to share information and instructions for confirming your local support of the "Special Leave" <br />provision. <br />Attached you will find a "confirmation form" that I am asking you to have signed by your local official to <br />confirm their support or non - support of matching this 40 -hour leave award. Please note that I did not <br />designate which Official has to sign the form, which hopefully allows the necessary flexibility for each of <br />you to use the best method for getting this completed in your home location. <br />Forms are to be returned by close of business on Tuesday, September 9, 2013. Cheryl Howard, NCCES <br />Leave Coordinator, is the point person on this project; please don't hesitate to contact her for any <br />questions, and all signed forms must be scanned and emailed or faxed to Cheryl. <br />While we have not yet received final guidance from the state, we anticipate this year's rules will closely <br />mirror last year's rules. If any of the rules change, we will let you know as soon as possible. The <br />parameters are listed on the form. If your local partner chooses not to match, the amount of leave hours <br />will be prorated to the proportion of salary paid by the University only. <br />The Special Leave is already showing as "Special Leave" in the "web leave system" that NCSU uses.
