Salisbury Rowan Community Action Agency <br />Community Services Block Grant Program <br />Fiscal Year 2014 -15 Application for Funding <br />Planning Process Narrative (continued) <br />ROMA Goal 2, 4 and 6 DHHS Excels -Goals 1 and 3 <br />Low income People Become More Self- Sufficient; Partnerships Manage resources that provide an elevated level of effective <br />among supporters and providers of services to low- income and efficient delivery of services and programs to North <br />people are achieved; Low - income people, especially vulnerable Carolinians; Offer outreach and services to individuals and <br />populations, achieve their potential by strengthening family and families identified as being at risk of compromised health and <br />other support systems safety, <br />6. Provide a description of how your agency will support innovative community and neighborhood - <br />based initiatives related to the purposes of the Community Services Block Grant (fatherhood <br />initiatives and other initiatives with the goal of strengthening families and encouraging effective <br />parenting). <br />SRCAA continues to participate in community -wide coalition - building and resource <br />development to meet the needs of individuals and families and reduce barriers to family and <br />community growth. At the beginning of the school year, parents sign a partnership <br />agreement that they will be fully involved with their children, and set goals for their family. <br />This gives low- income families the capability to make decisions, initiate programs, and <br />obtain resources to encourage stronger families in our area. Parent trainings are also <br />offered in areas such as: Parenting skills, child and health development, preparations of <br />food, and child abuse and neglect. By offering these services, parents' skills are <br />strengthened and parents' understand the responsibility they have to their children. SRCAA <br />continues to provide support to families as they learn new skills. <br />Internally, the merging of departments included an intentional effort to train Family <br />Development Specialists in Head Start in the Parent, Family and Community Engagement <br />Framework. The ultimate goal of the framework is to ensure families understand what <br />school readiness is. During the upcoming months and years, FDS will train families in core <br />competencies of parenting and school readiness. SRCAA will also be in conversation with <br />the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) to increase father- focus. Family Services (CSDG) <br />will partner with Head Start to improve the way fathers are treated as integral family <br />members in goal the goal attainment process. <br />ROMA Goal 5 and 6 DHHS Excels -Goals 1 and 5 <br />Agencies increase their capacity to achieve results; Low- income Manage resources that provide an elevated level of effective <br />people, especially vulnerabfe populations, achieve lhefr potential and efficient delivery of services and programs to North <br />by strengthening family and other support systems Carolinians; Provide services and protection to individuals and <br />families experiencing serious health and safety needs who are <br />not, at least tem oraril , able to assist themselves. <br />7. Describe activities that your agency has undertaken or plans to undertake, on an emergency basis, <br />for the provision of such supplies and services, nutritious foods and related services, as may be <br />necessary to counteract conditions of starvation and malnutrition among low- income individuals. <br />Salisbury Rowan Community Action Agency, Inc. has established partnerships with local <br />food banks, churches, and nonprofit organizations.
