Brian King, President
Rotary Club of Concord, NC
1'D Box 1387
Concord, NC 28026
Dear Brian:
At their December 8, 2011 meeting the Concord City Council voted unanimously to
support the "Rotary Square" project contingent upon the implementation of the
description provided in the attached project summary from the Club, and the answers to
other Council questions asked during the discussion. The additional information
provided through the answers to these questions include that Cabarrus County will empty
the trash receptacles on the site routinely as in other County park facilities, which means
service levels will be adequate to address the needs. The Club will also make sure a low,
decorative fence will be included to deter children from running into the streets along the
South Union and Corban sides of the project. Finally, you indicated the owner(s) of the
adjacent buildings and parking, area in the Yates- Chreitzberg- Hughes complex do not
object to the project.
This letter is provided with the understanding there will be a four party agreement
developed and entered into before project implementation that will sell out the agreed
upon responsibilities of the Concord Rotary Club, the City of Concord, Cabarrus County
and the Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County in building, maintaining and
operating the facilities. This agreement and any other issues and concerns that may arise
in the future will be reviewed by the City Council at the time they consider approval.
The City would like to thank the Concord Rotary Club for continuing its long history of
contributions to the betterment of our community.
Sincerely -
flit A
W.
