CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF • • <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />1� <br />p TBcA�a 11i MARCH 19 20 <br />��fiiffJfl /�� <br />1 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />County Manager - Increase Funding to Self- Insured Health Insurance Fund - <br />$2,339,860 <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Information on the rising cost of health care was presented to the Board at its <br />retreat in January, including proposed changes to the health insurance plan <br />for FY 12 -13. Since then, additional information on claim activity was received <br />and evaluated for its affect on the FY 11 -12 budget. A $2 million contribution <br />from the General Fund is needed to cover the claims expense in the Self - <br />Insured Fund as the County has experienced high claim activity this year. The <br />following budget amendment appropriates fund balance to cover this <br />expense. These monies were earmarked for this purpose at year end.
