Retain first copy for your <br />records.) <br />Applicant <br />Signature Date <br />• This site on Atando Road is a county owned site and applicable rules and regulations of Cabarrus Parks and <br />Recreational Department must be followed. Respect each other and one another's growing area and tools. <br />•The garden is under the control of the Elma C Lomax Farm Manager. Gardeners will follow all directions and <br />instructions from the Farm Manager. There will be a volunteer Community Garden manager reporting to the Farm <br />manager. Questions or concerns should be directed toward the Community Garden Manager. <br />Note: the next 6 rules are necessary to maintain organic certification for the Farm Incubator. Violations of these rules <br />will result in immediate dismissal from the program. <br />• All pesticides and fertilizers will be National Organic Program (NOP) approved (i.e. organic). Compost can be <br />homemade, but will not contain, dog and cat feces, human manure or urine. Transplants do not have to be organic. <br />• Do not plant illegal or poisonous plants. Do not use any Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's). The two places you <br />may encounter Genetically Modified Organisms are in some pesticides and in some plant seeds. Any GMO pesticides <br />will not have the Organic Material Review Institute (OMRI) label. At the current time GMO seeds are not available in <br />local garden centers. In addition there are numerous seed catalogs that do not contain any GMO products. A list of <br />seed companies is available upon request. <br />•Do not enter the greenhouse, the post- harvest handling facility or participating farmer plot unless as a guest of <br />Cabarrus County, a guest of a farmer enrolled in the Elma C Lomax program, or on a specified tour. While interaction <br />between gardeners and beginning farmers will be encouraged and there are some joint meetings, there can be no cross <br />contamination of tools or produce. <br />• Do not take any produce from the community garden to any other area of the farm including the post- harvest handling <br />facility. Produce should be taken home when it is picked. <br />• You will need to provide your own hand tools. You may use any carts or hoses designated as community garden <br />property. Do not use any tools from any beginning or participating farmer. Do not allow any beginning farmer to <br />borrow and use any of your tools. <br />• Do not bring pets to the garden. <br />Note: Violation of the following guidelines will result in a verbal warning as appropriate, followed by a written warning if <br />not corrected. Continued or flagrant violations will prohibit you from being able to renew your lease. <br />• Cabarrus County cannot guarantee protection against vandalism or theft. Any vandalism should be reported to the <br />Community Garden manager. <br />• Let the Community Garden Manager know by September 1 of each year whether or not you intend to renew your <br />lease •If you must abandon the plot for any reason, notify the volunteer Community Garden Manager <br />Cabarrus County, Elma C.
