Cabarrus County Solid Waste Management Plan <br />2022 <br />• Coordinate partnerships with reuse businesses and organizations in the County and to <br />spread public awareness and acceptance of used products. <br />Harrisburg <br />• Investigate recycling collection program in town parks <br />Midland <br />• Increase recovery through 96- gallon cart service accepting more item types <br />Add public recycling to the Thread Trail once developed <br />6. c. 2. CI1 Recycling and Reuse Programs <br />Current: <br />CII establishments may participate in recycling by contracting with a private hauler. Collection <br />services for conventional recyclables are relatively available for both large and small <br />establishments. Cabarrus County's three multi - material recycling drop -off facilities accept <br />several types of materials from businesses, including cardboard, computers, electronics, and <br />scrap metal. <br />Cabarrus County offers technical assistance to CII establishments in the following ways: <br />• Identify recycling haulers <br />• Provide recommendations on self -waste assessments <br />• Assist with the design of a collection system <br />• Encourage voluntary reporting of recovery data <br />The Town of Mount Pleasant also allows businesses to use its curbside recycling program and <br />sponsors a community - accessible corrugated cardboard drop off station open to residents and <br />businesses. <br />Cabarrus County and Kannapolis, in partnership with the City of Concord, are providing <br />recycling for mixed paper and rigid containers in each school in the Cabarrus County and <br />Kannapolis City School Districts, as well as the two campuses of the Rowan Cabarrus <br />Community College (RCCC) located in the County. Each K -12 classroom has been provided <br />one recycling container. In addition, roll out carts have also been distributed.
