Cabarrus County Zoning Ordinance <br />Chapter 2 -Rules of Construction and Definitions <br />TOWING SERVICE- Businesses primarily engaged in puiiii y o, iieiuiiiig vc, 11 1 Lrit case of <br />breakdowns or collisions or that may be impounded for legal reasons. <br />TOWNHOUSE - A single - family dwelling unit constructed in a series, group or row of <br />attached units separated by property lines and with a yard on at least two sides. The term <br />"townhouse" also includes a single - family dwelling constructed in a series or group of <br />attached units with property lines separating each unit. <br />TRADE OR VOCATIONAL SCHOOL- A school, other than a college or university, which, may <br />11 be operated as a commercial venture, and which provides part -time or full -time e cat <br />beyond the high school level and does not provide lodging or dwelling units fo tror <br />faculty. Includes technical and cosmetology schools. <br />TRAIL - Any paved or unpaved surface used as a greenway, blueway ov; rec re�ltibnal facility. <br />- RAIL HEAD- Area specifically designated for accessing a trail. <br />TRUCKING AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT, SALES AND SERVICE- A commercial facility for the <br />dispateh-- er—maintenance of trucks or their sale, rental or lease, including the sale, rental or <br />lease of heavy equipment. <br />TRUCKING EQUIPMENT COMPANY, HEAVY EQUIPME T COMi -, DISPATCH FACILITY WITH <br />STORAGE- A commercial facility for the dispatch of trks " heavy equipment which includes <br />the storage of such equipment on site between jobs. �'`� <br />TRUCK STOP, TRUCK TERMINAL- A facility which accommodates the trucking industry by <br />providing fueling stations, weigh stations, restaurants, convenience foods, and occasionally, <br />overnight rooming accommodations. These facilities are _ypically located near state, federal or <br />interstate highways. <br />UNDERLYING ZONING DISTRI - tandard zoning district classification which is combined <br />with an overlay district for ur development regulation specificity. The base <br />(underlying) district reg i s hall apply unless expressly superseded by overlay district <br />provisions. <br />UPZONING- The recl 5ifi . tion of land from a residential to a non - residential zoning <br />district, or to a oning district which permits greater density or intensity than the current <br />zoning class n ifica the property. <br />USE- The "10 'O'se or purposes for which land or a building is occupied, maintained, <br />arranged, designed, or intended. <br />�VED- Any use that is or may be lawfully established in a particular district <br />prMcled that it conforms with all requirements of these regulations for the district in which <br />such use is located. <br />USE, VARIANCE- A variance as to the permissible use of land.
