<br />physical shape, it enrolled its fl rat five

<br />many qualified individuals — both locally
<br />here In Cabarrus and abroad — eitherseek
<br />employment or volunteer services," he
<br />says.
<br />An important goal for Fleming and
<br />Woodson is obtaining national
<br />accreditation — for example, from the
<br />Transnatlonal Association of Christian
<br />Colleges and Schools (TRACS), a U.S.
<br />Department of Education - recognized
<br />accrediting body— before the first class
<br />graduates. Official application for
<br />accreditation submission is slated for April
<br />2012.
<br />"We are pursu1ng a ccreditation with
<br />TRACS, and also other accrediting agencies
<br />for degree - specific programs," says
<br />Fleming. "Academic courses must be in
<br />process at the time of application for
<br />accreditation with application to TRACS,
<br />so we cannot wait to receive accreditation
<br />before we offer classes"
<br />Additionally, Woodson University's
<br />degree programs of study have been given
<br />exemption from Ilcensure by the UNC
<br />System and the N.C. Community College
<br />System. This allows Woodson to grant
<br />certificates, bachelors, masters and
<br />doctorate degrees.
<br />The official colors of Woodson
<br />University are green and gold, with its
<br />mascot being the lion — a symbol of
<br />courage. In that vein, Fleming sees his
<br />future graduates moving on as productive
<br />and active citizens in society. "I see many
<br />ofthem leading nonprofit organizations
<br />and entering the field ofteaching In public
<br />and private school systems," he says.
<br />When asked about what the success of
<br />this educational endeavor would mean to
<br />him Fleming is quick to say, "Success has
<br />already occurred We are providing access
<br />to education in an affordable, accelerated
<br />and convenient fashion; the rest of the
<br />success is up to the student.
<br />"Ten years from now, I see Woodson as
<br />an integral part of our community, with
<br />approNimately 250 to 500 students hear
<br />on- ground In Cabarrus County, with the
<br />academic and athletic teams competing
<br />bath on the gridiron and in the
