Gvoltaics
July 10, 2012
Cabarrus County Commissioners
Cabarrus County Government Center
65 Church Street
Concord NC, 28026
To the Commissioners:
I'd like to amend a portion of my bid for the Old Bethel School property to remove
the request for an abatement of property taxes. After viewing the video from your
July 2nd working session, I understand the limitations on such requests in the
State of North Carolina. I have reviewed the property tax regulations and
assessment guidelines and will be ready, willing and able to pay any taxes due,
as appropriate, should my bid be accepted.
Just for some clarity in case there is any confusion about what we propose to do,
we value the community connection as very important to our development and
for this reason, if awarded, we would like the Administration Building (the "face"
of the school) to be maintained and brought back into line with building
regulations as soon as possible. We will look to the Cabarrus County community
for people in a wide range of areas, initially looking at landscaping and security
for the facility.
However, beyond this we will also be looking to bring in people with skilled
advanced training in areas such as engineering, science and finance. I am
certain we can draw from the available pool of talented individuals in Midland as
well.
At the core of our planned facility, we want to stage our growth to build "solar
farms" but in a way that is unique to the technologies we have developed. This
would mean we would use the campus as a showcase site to demonstrate how
energy and solar -based technologies work. This goes beyond providing our
customers and vendors a place to learn and become certified with our approach
and processes, this would also serve as a location for families to come to learn
E -1 Page 53
