<br />• A recent rates run analysis was conducted for RCCC due to a February 2012
<br />rate increase. The resulting comparison reflects that RCCC is still presently on
<br />the best rate, OPT -G, by a margin of 3.3% over the Large General Service
<br />rate.
<br />3.3 ENERGY STAR
<br />The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provides a voluntary program called
<br />ENERGY STAR which allows for benchmark comparison of commercial buildings. The
<br />system provides a score between 0 - 100. Buildings which score 75 or higher are
<br />eligible for recognition.
<br />Because RCCC South is designated as College /University (Campus - Level) within
<br />Portfolio Manager, this type of facility is not eligible for an energy performance rating
<br />from ENERGY STAR.
<br />Despite the lack of an ENERGY STAR rating or national comparison, energy usage
<br />data was entered into ENERGY STAR's Portfolio Manager, and the property's
<br />generated statement of energy performance reflects a site energy intensity of 82
<br />kBtu /ft /year compared to a national average of 104 kBtu /ft /year. The energy
<br />intensity is a good indicator that there is room for improvement in overall building
<br />efficiency. Investing in the optimization of the facility has the potential to reduce
<br />usage and costs, while improving comfort and ease of operations in the buildings.
