CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 21, 2011 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />New Business <br />SUBJECT: <br />Commerce - 2011 -2012 HOME Program Public Hearing - 6:30 P.M. & <br />Participation in the Cabarrus /Iredell /Rowan HOME Consortium for 2011- <br />2014 <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Cabarrus County has participated in the Cabarrus /Iredell /Rowan HOME <br />Consortium for over a decade. The Consortium receives funding from the <br />US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development for housing rehabilitation <br />for elderly and low income persons and families. The modifications allow <br />elderly persons to remain in their home longer. <br />In order to participate, Cabarrus County must hold a public hearing and <br />provide a 25 % match for the rehabilitations. The funding is secured with <br />a deed of trust on the property. The match is typically provided in the <br />budget process. <br />In addition, the current participation agreement expires this year and the <br />County will need to enter into a new 3 -year Agreement for 2011 -2014 if it <br />wishes to continue to participate in the program. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Hold a public hearing. <br />Consider a motion to participate in the Cabarrus /Iredell /Rowan HOME <br />Consortium for 2011 -2014, or not. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />5 Minutes <br />7 <br />F� <br />G -2 Page 119 <br />
