It is currently a corresponding institution with
the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, Fleming said.
Before officially applying for accreditation, the university must have one year of consistent degree activity with a student
population and a completed independent financial audit, Fleming said.
Because the first group of students is attending a university that does not have its accreditation, Woodson is offering
affordable tuition, Fleming said. Currently, a 120- credit hour bachelor s degree will cost a total of $2,100; a 48 -credit hour
master s degree wig cost $4,350 total; and a 60 -credit hour doctorate will cost a total of $6,500.
Even though the costs may change, the university wants to offer education that is affordable, accessible and accelerated.
The university also hopes to meet the needs of this community.
We want to be a large member of the coninitmity, be helpful and make our home better," Fleming said. Being a part of the
historic downtown fabric is a uniqueness our university has."
Woodson University also hopes to provide its students with 21 st- Century education through its online courses and plans to
use other technology in classes.
Maurice Harden, provost and vice president for academic affairs for the university, said Woodson wants to embrace what it
means to live in the 21 st century and provide new opportunities for individuals in the area of Christian leadership.
I m most excited about this new opportunity to embrace our community and to empower our community," Harden said.
I in excited about what this opportunity presents for higher education."
For more information about Woodson University, visit www.woodsonu.us.
Contact reporter Jessica Groover: 704- 789 -9152
Independent Tribune 0 Copyright 2011 Media General Communications Holdings, ll.C.
