The 2010 data regarding minority
concentrations for counties has not been released as of the date of the creation of this
document.
Between 2000 and 2010, the population of Cabarrus County increased from 131,063 to
174,255, an increase of 24.7%. Much of the increase in the past decade is due to in
migration as Cabarrus County has benefited from the strong economic growth of
Charlotte, which is a financial center. Cabarrus County has had tremendous residential
growth in both the rental and owner occupied markets. The recent housing market crash,
however, has slowed the rate of growth and new construction substantially.
The data for this portion of the analysis was derived from the 1990, 2000 and 2010 U.S.
Census data, 2005 -2009 American Community Survey, and NC Statistics website from
the State Demographer's Office.
Total Households, Types and Size.
