but can be used by the other schools in our area as well as the local population. I would also like
to say that we have to full support of our Community Leaders. I contacted Del Eudy, Mayor of
Mount Pleasant, and he is in full support of anything that would encourage more physical activity
and fitness related events in our community. He is willing to do whatever he and his office can to
support this project. Last summer, community events were planned using the Park that is right
beside the Valley where we would like the track located. We foresee this new track being used as
a community track for exercise, Fun Runs, and more.
20
This track will also be used by the MPES Running Club and will be open to other running and
walking groups in the Mount Pleasant Community and area schools. Our plan is to put mile
markers to keep people informed of how far they have walked.
We have a unique opportunity in 2011 to inform the public of this new track facility, The
Anniversary of the Opening of Mount Pleasant Elementary School is coming up in the 2012-2013
School Year. In preparation for this event, we will have a Grand Opening Celebration for the Track
to let our Staff, Students, and Community celebrate.
Our final step in our plan to use the track at school and for public use is to get parents, students,
local churches, businesses, and civic groups to help beautify the area with Park Benches, Bird
Habitats, and Natural areas that can be used for Science Curriculum by our schools, after school
programs, summer camps, and local preschool programs.
Lastly, I have included a letter from our Principal, Corey Cochran with his vision for the track. We
have the full support of our Administration, Staff, Students, and Community in this project.
F -7
Attachment number 5
Page 158
