PARTNER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable)
NA
9. STAFF SUPPORT
Staff are currently weeding all collections in the library system to prepare for a new system. Technical
Services staff are cleaning up existing records. A committee is in place to review the changes to the
policies and to make recommendations for changes to the Library Board of Trustees.
Once the new system is installed the branch managers and the circulation manager will be responsible
for ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.
Library Director, Dana Eure, will coordinate all activities.
10. STAFF TRAINING
Included with the installation is four days of onsite formal training for library staff from TLC. In addition,
TLC provides one day of onsite assistance immediately following formal training for the TLC trainer to
answer questions and assist staff as they work through the new system. Prior to installation we will
have all staff view the training videos that TLC has on their customer website. This will enable them to
be familiar with the format of each screen as well as have time to prepare questions for the trainer.
Post installation we will develop a manual of procedures that will be available to all staff. Training will
continue on the job with scheduled meetings to discuss issues, best practices and other relevant
information. Refresher training will be developed and provided by library staff as needed.
11. EVALUATION
Much of the success of the project will be measured in terms of perception. The public will be given a
brief survey to complete after installation of the system to gauge their satisfaction with the new system
in terms of ease of use, better searching capabilities, better results and other integrated functions. Staff
will be similarly surveyed to gauge their satisfaction and the changes in the ways that they can provide
better customer service.
Success will also be measured by demonstrating that the desired technologies and techniques are
installed and functioning.
Increases in holds and circulation will also indicate success.
Cabarrus County Public Library LSTA Technology Grant Application 2010-2011 5
Attachment number 1
' F-2 Page 66
