Human Resources Department <br />MEMORANDUM <br />To: Board of County Commissioners <br />From: Don Cummings, Human Resources Director <br />Date: March 26, 2010 <br />Subject: Cabarrus County Personnel Ordinance Revision <br />The current version of the Cabarrus County Personnel Ordinance was adopted on October 1, <br />2009. Since then changes in employment laws have occurred that impact employment policies. <br />This is a request for the adoption of recommended changes to the current ordinance with an <br />effective revision date of April 19, 2010. <br />The proposed revisions include changes for compliance with federal laws, rules, and <br />regulations, for consistency with other county policies and procedures, and clarification. <br />A copy of the proposed revisions is attached showing the recommended deletions (red, line <br />through type) and additions (blue, underline type). <br />Proposed changes include: <br />• Compliance with Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) revisions; <br />• Compliance with Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA); and <br />• Revision of Article 111.3.(c) to reflect the updated performance planning and evaluation <br />program. <br />Request adoption of the proposed ordinance revisions and authorization for staff to make <br />necessary formatting and grammatical adjustments in the published document. <br />Please contact me with any questions or if additional information is necessary. <br />F-6 A~~cai~n~r~t number 1 <br />
