<br />Section 10. Payroll Errors, Improper Deductions, Suspensions without Pav
<br />(a) Improper or Unlawful Deductions from Pay. Every effort is made to ensure that compensation and pay
<br />checks are properly computed and calculated. It is against County policy for any employee's wages to have
<br />improper or unlawful deductions. If an employee believes his or her pay is incorrect or that an improper or
<br />unlawful deduction was made to his or her wages or salary, he or she needs to contact the County payroll
<br />office immediately. The payroll office and/or human resources department will investigate the matter, make
<br />corrections as appropriate, and make prompt reimbursement as required.
<br />1. Deductions from salaries of employees exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 CFR Part 541, are
<br />NOT permitted by the regulation for the following reasons:
<br />a. On an hourly basis except for unpaid FMLA leave and as provided in the special rules above.
<br />b. When the office, facility, building or department is officially closed due to inclement weather such as
<br />snow or ice. Exempt salaried workers ex~etn~ be required to use earned leave or debit the leave

<br />c. For penalties or rules violations such as performance issues, attendance issues, minor safety rules,
<br />cash shortages, losses, rules of evidence violations or damages to equipment or property, including
<br />insurance deductibles when damage has occurred.

<br />Replace old language of "because of the individual's age, color, disability, national origin, political
<br />affiliation, race, religion, or sex" with new language of "because of the individual's age, color,
<br />disability, genetic information, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, or sex" where
<br />necessary, including the following locations:
