Z r
,~-~s,-
Travel Trade:
FY 2010/2011 Budget Summaries
Momentum in the group tour market dipped in 2009 and early 2010 due to the sagging
economy and a reduced focus by the CCTA; however, with the opening of the NASCAR
Hall of Fame and its direct impact on motorsports this sector could see a return to former
strength. Additionally, our membership in the Carolina Student Travel Connection will
provide additional services from a part-time coordinator whose responsibilities will
include curriculum development and educator relations, thus increasing the regional
visibility of our student-friendly attractions and lodging.
Association:
Evidenced by lodging partners listing this market as one of the lowest priorities for the
CCTA to sell, it appears that this market is doing quite well on its own. Local lodging
partners with a dedicated sales staff have indicated that they are very comfortable selling
to this market segment with limited help from CCTA staff. Strong state and regional
participation in the past by the CCTA and local lodging partners have helped strengthen
this market and that level of participation should continue into FY 2010-2011. Once
again, almost a quarter of the sales budget is dedicated to this market but there will be a
significant reduction in advertising expenditures due to a low ROI on previous ventures.
Attachment number 1
F-1 Page 63
