RFP Response <br />for Springfield Free Public Library <br />Public Access Catalog (PAC) refers to an integrated subsystem that <br />allows patrons to search and browse the bibliographic database <br />✓ <br />according to library specified parameters. <br />General <br />1. The PAC must be web accessible and support multiple browsers: <br />✓ <br />2. The PAC must be fully compliant with MARC21 and Z39.50 <br />✓ <br />standards. <br />3. The PAC must offer the ability to toggle between regular print and <br />✓ <br />large print. <br />V/ <br />4. The ILS must support the ability for the library to produce custom <br />✓ <br />lists and present them on specific pages of the PAC. <br />✓ <br />5. The ILS must supply a PAC that will authenticate remote patrons <br />✓ <br />who use the Web to access online resources. <br />6. The ILS must allow patrons to set up a user name online and <br />change it online, if necessary. This user name can be used instead <br />✓ <br />of a barcode when logging in to use PAC functions. <br />7. The ILS must allow patrons to have forgotten passwords sent to <br />✓ <br />their e-mail addresses. <br />V <br />8. The ILS must allow the library the option to require numeric <br />✓ <br />passwords (PINs) that can be used to login to the PAC. <br />V <br />9. The ILS must support the ability for the library to customize the <br />✓ <br />PAC display of data, labels, and order of data elements. <br />10. The ILS must support NCIP for resource sharing and self - service <br />✓ <br />integration with various third party vendors. <br />1. The PAC must be able to search any Z39.50 compliant <br />database or server. Please detail any costs here to <br />✓ <br />develop /integrate particular targets, if applicable. <br />TLC: There is NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. <br />2. The ILS must support the ability for item level detail availability to <br />✓ <br />display in the PAC without leaving the results set. <br />3. The PAC must offer an online automatic Spell Checker. <br />4. The PAC must offer a "did you mean" feature. <br />5. The PAC must save previous searches done during a single <br />V/ <br />session. <br />6. The PAC must support the ability for searches to be qualified by <br />✓ <br />type of material as defined by the Z39.89 standard. <br />7. The PAC must offer the ability to scope searches by collection. <br />8. The PAC must provide search result relevancy ranking. <br />9. The PAC must offer a compressed holdings statement that allows <br />✓ <br />the patron to see any holds on the item. <br />10. The ILS must support the ability for the library to determine PAC <br />✓ <br />default search settings. <br />11.
