Table 4 -5 lists the <br />materials collected curbside by each jurisdiction. <br />The three convenience centers are located in <br />Kannapolis, Concord, and at the County landfill. <br />Four convenience centers were available to <br />residents during the previous Plan Update, <br />however, the recycling center in Midland closed on <br />December 31, 2007. <br />The County operated convenience center at the <br />landfill is open to the public Monday through <br />Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. <br />to 2:00 p.m. The convenience center offers <br />expanded materials collection. In addition to the <br />materials listed for convenience centers, the landfill <br />convenience center also accepts scrap metal, white <br />goods, tires, used motor oil and filters, batteries, <br />electronics, and yard waste. <br />The HHW collection facility, located in Concord, <br />accepts household hazardous waste and electronics <br />on the first Wednesday of every month from 8:00 <br />a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the third Saturday of every <br />month from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The convenience <br />center also accepts non - hazardous recyclable <br />material every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 <br />a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition to convenience center <br />materials, the center accepts white goods, scrap <br />metals, oil and filters, used antifreeze, batteries, <br />printer cartridges, and undeveloped photographic <br />film. <br />A latex paint swap shop is in use at the HHW <br />facility.
