At� <br />Mark eting & Communications Report I First Quarter <br />Charlotte Observer August 29, 2010 <br />Print Circulation: 166,546 <br />Online Audience: 659,016 <br />Hotels to sponsor home <br />Cabarrus attractions also raising money for the first 'Hospitality House' for <br />Habitat for Humanity. <br />By Joe Marusak <br />jmarusak @chadotteobserver.com <br />Posted: Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 <br />CONCORD Cabarrus County's hospitality industry Is raising $60,000 to sponsor a Habitat for <br />Humanity home for a local woman and her children. <br />Local hotels and attractions have raised about $12,000 toward building the first "Hospitality <br />House" through Habitat for Humanity Cabarrus County, said Doug Stafford, partner at Griffin <br />Stafford Hospitality. Griffin Stafford, which develops and manages hotel properties, launched <br />the Habitat initiative. <br />"Habitat has shown ... that families who own their homes are more stable and ... children from <br />Habitat families are more likely to live in a nurturing environment," Stafford said in announcing <br />the initiative recently. <br />Contributors include Griffin Stafford, Embassy Suites, SREE Hotels, Great Wolf Lodge, <br />Concord Mills, Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Kannapolis Intimidators, <br />Reed Gold Mine, Max's Ally and Concord Motorsport Park. <br />Planned fundraisers include Hospitality Night on Sept. 18 at Concord Motorsport Park, a <br />tourism expo Sept. 25 at Concord Mills mall, a World Habitat Day event Oct. 5 and a Nov. 1 <br />golf tourney at Rocky River Golf Club. <br />A full schedule of fundraisers is planned throughout autumn; organizers say details will be <br />announced soon.
