CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 20, 2010 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Jail - Request for Additional Funding for Offsite Inmate Housing & Related <br />Budget Amendment - $975,000.00 <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />A higher than expected population at the jail has resulted in transferring more <br />inmates to other county jails for housing than planned. The estimated cost of <br />housing these additional inmates in jails in other counties for the remainder of <br />the fiscal year is $975,000, which represents a savings of approximately <br />$375,000 over the other alternative, which is opening the new jail 1.5 months <br />earlier than planned. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to adopt budget amendment. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Pamela S.
