HARRISBURG AREA LAND USE PLAN <br />Character Areas <br />The planning area can be divided into several subareas, or character areas, <br />based on the specific features of each. They are depicted in Figure 5 and <br />explained below. <br />IAL <br />IOOD <br />Town Center <br />Recent development within the town center is more typical of traditional urban <br />development. Buildings within the town center possess a strong relationship to <br />an internal street network. A mix of attached residential housing types, non- <br />residential and civic uses (e.g., Town Hall /YMCA) is integrated within a system <br />of walkable streets and blocks. Buildings enclose spaces in a manner that <br />creates a pedestrian scale.
