l <br /> <br />8. Additional names may not be added to names of facilities and parks already named <br />for an individual. <br />9. Only those facilities or parks named for something other than an individual may be <br />renamed. <br />10. The names of facilities or parks named for individuals shall be considered permanent <br />unless set by an individual naming contractor irrefutable revelations should arise of <br />misconduct or misdeeds so reprehensible and stigmatizing of the individual's <br />memory and so potentially damaging to the facility or park bearing his or her name <br />as to demand change. <br />11. Certain features in public areas and/or facilities may be named for such things as <br />flowers, birds, animals, etc. instead of people. Consideration for naming these items <br />should be at the discretion of the Cabarrus County Department of Aging Advisory <br />Board and need not be presented to the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. <br />12. The Cabarrus County Department of Aging Advisory Board will recommend to the <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners placement of a plaque, statuary, work of <br />art, or monument in an appropriate location within a park or other facility wherein <br />the names of individuals may be placed for their contributions, financially or <br />otherwise. <br />Procedural Guidelines <br />1. The Cabarrus County Department of Aging Advisory Board will receive naming <br />recommendations only on forms available at the Department of Aging <br />Administrative Office or one of the Cabarrus County Senior Centers. Each such <br />recommendation must be accompanied by information indicating why a particular <br />name should be designated for a particular area or facility or park. _ <br />2. Naming recommendation and supporting material will be received at the first of two ~ <br />consecutive monthly meetings (a period of 60 days) of the Cabarrus County <br />Department of Aging Advisory Board. <br />3. Having received appropriate recommendation forms and supporting materials <br />during the first meeting, the Cabarrus County Department of Aging Advisory Board <br />will receive verbal and/or written input during a public hearing segment of the <br />second consecutive monthly meeting. This publicized public hearing will have a <br />timed agenda period. Normally, the Department of Aging Advisory Board will <br />evaluate the recommendation(s) and take action at the second monthly meeting. <br />Item# 3 <br />Attachment number 1 <br />F'_~ Page 98 of 253 ' <br />
