L
~\ /~'~
me ca~ta a ~.
~~
To: Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners
From: Kelly Sifford, AICP
Re: 2009-2010 HOME Program
Date: February 17, 2009
Cabarrus County is required to hold a public hearing to participate in the Cabarrus/Iredell/Rowan Home
Consortium. Cabarrus County is projected to receive approximately $120,000 for activities and
administration in FY 2009-2010. There is a 25~o match on the activity money that is included in the
Commerce- Community Development budget proposal. The public hearing is designed to take public
comment on community needs. Based on comments received from other agencies, staff would like to
use the funds for three single family rehabilitation projects focusing on low to moderate income elderly
and disabled persons. These populations seem to have the greatest housing needs. Housing
rehabilitation allows the client to stay in the home longer. Typically, home modifications include
handicap accessibility and energy efficiency as well as hvac, structural, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
G-1
L

~I
~!

i~
C

C

Attachment number 2
