i~
Task 2 -Emulsified Oil Injection
This task covers conducting the emulsified oil injection to reduce VOC concentrations in
the area around and down-gradient of MW-E/E-deep. The major components of the
injection include:
Injecting emulsified oil into the six injection wells: For budgeting purposes,
CDM assumes injection at one well per day with approximately 6,300 gallons of
water containing 5,000 mg/L of emulsified oil. For this proposal,'CDM will
provide all potable water necessary for the emulsified oil injection. In addition,
CDM costs include purchase and delivery of emulsified oil. Emulsified oil is a
commodity txaded on the open market and subject to unpredictable cost
fluctuations. CDM's cost allocation for emulsified oil in this proposal is the
current cost of $1,050 per 55-gallon drum. CDM estimates that 23 drums of
emulsified oil will be required. All emulsified oil purchased will be used during
this injection event. Prior to placing the order for the emulsified oil, CDM will
obtain approval foz additional costs, if necessary.
Monitoring additional water quality parameters for one year in MW-EfMW-E
deep, AMW-]J1 deep, and AMW 2/Z deep on a quarterly basis: This Task
includes collection of two additional samples from each of the six wells for the
additional water quality parameters. Additional water quality parameters are
already collected at MW-E and E-deep as part of the regular semi-annual
sampling under a separate amendment. The newly installed wells will be added
to the regulaz semi-annual list.
Task 3 -Performance Reporting
Following injection, CDM will prepare a letter report for submission to the Solid Waste
Section discussing the results of the emulsified oil injection. The semi-annual monitoring
reports will include a section discussing the effects of the emulsified oil injection and
MNA. The additional groundwater data will be used to assess the effectiveness of the
emulsified oiI delivery to the subsurface and to assess the effects of the delivery on VOC
degradation..
2. The responsibility of OWNER as described in Section 2 of said Agreement are
amended and supplemented ae follows:
Provide access to proposed drilling sites for injection and monitoring well installation
equipment and injection equipment.
3. The time period for the performance of ENGINEER's services as set forth in
Section 4 of said Agreement are amended as follows:
CDM will initiate work within 2 weeks of OWNER'S acceptance of this agreement.
Implementation of remedy will begin with 2 weeks of Solid Waste Section approval of
the Corrective Action Plan.
F-9
Amendment 37.doc
Attachment number 3

C
i
r]
~'
C'
C

i

n
C
i
