Draft Fact Sheet <br />Extending Water & Sewer -Impacts on Fishertown Residents <br />In order for Kannapolis to extend water and sewer, at a minimum 70 percent of <br />residents will need to agree to pay tap fees to connect to the system. <br />Water & Sewer tap fees will cost $2700 per house and does not include private <br />plumbing and connection to homes. This fee is the lowest the city offers. <br />The Water & Sewer tap fee can be financed through the City for up to 48 months. <br />Financing Interest Rate Schedule <br />12 months 0 % interest <br />24 months 1 % interest <br />36 months <br />48 months <br />2 % interest <br />3 % interest <br />Annexation <br />By becoming residents of Kannapolis, Fishertown residents will gain the following City <br />Services: <br />• Garbage and Yard Waste Collection <br />• Increased Public Safety Services (check with your insurance agent to see if these <br />services lower the cost of your homeowners insurance). <br />• Street maintenance and street lights <br />• More code enforcement <br />The following are the additional taxes and fees that residents will pay following <br />annexation: <br />• City property tax ($497 per year fora $100,000 home) <br />• City vehicle tax: $15 per year <br />• Storm water fee (range of $3.00 per month to $5.00 per month depending on <br />house size) <br />• Utility fees for water and sewer service <br />The City will be holding two information sessions to help answer any questions about <br />this information.
