CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br />Meeting Date 5/19/08 Agenda Item # ~- 12 <br />SUBJECT: <br />Incorporation of the Cabarrus County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) to a 501 (c) 6 <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The CVB has approached the County with a request to establish a 501 (c) 6 in order to <br />conduct business for the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority. Since the creation of the <br />Tourim Authority, the County Finance Dept. has provided all the financial services for the <br />CVB including: bill payments, cash receipts, payroll, and financial reporting. The <br />organization has grown to a point where they can handle their financial services on their <br />own and/or through contracting these services. The County will continue to report the CVB <br />as a component unit in our financial reports as required by accounting standards. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: (Suggested motion ii the Board approves the agenda item as presented) <br />(1) Review the attached documentation and authorize the incorporation of the CVB and <br />authorize the County Manager, County Attorney, and the Finance Director to work directly <br />with the Tourism Authority to update all legal documents and agreements deemed <br />necessary by legal counsel related to this conversion. (2) Adopt resolution.
