Cabarrus County, NC <br />Destinations that could be linked by the Carolina Thread Trait: <br />Concord Mills Mall <br />Concord Mills Mall is a 1.4 million square foot shopping mall located in Concord, <br />North Carolina, a suburb of Charlotte. The mall is in Cabarrus County, just a <br />few hundred feet from the Mecklenburg County border, and about 25 miles <br />from downtown Charlotte. It is operated by the Mills Corporation and is the <br />third largest shopping mall in North Carolina, the largest being Hanes Matl in <br />Winston-Salem, and second largest being Charlotte's SouthPark Mall. The late Curtis Turner, one of stock car racing's earliest driving <br />stars, was Smith's business partner. Together, they built their dream of a 1.5- <br />mile super speedway on the outskirts of the Queen City and, on June 19, 1960, <br />the first World 600 was run at the new facility.
