Bax 707 <br />Concord, North Carolina 28026-0707 <br />Dear Mark: <br />This letter is in response to the proposed contract between Cabarrus County and Amusements of Rochester, <br />Inc. d/b/a Powers Great American Midways. <br />After operating over two months into the 2008 season we would like to propose retaining the same contract <br />as in the previous years due to the following reasons. With the obvious increase in fuel our costs our over <br />the road expenses and daily operation costs have skyrocketed. Our concessionaires have seen a 35 percent <br />drop in income and some food concessions have seen a decrease as well. In order to keep our <br />concessionaires I Gave not increased their footage costs and have been trying to keep every thing on au even <br />keel. Several game operations have retired from the business this yeaz as the economy has seemed to have <br />forced them out .Hopefully, widtout increasing their costs I will be able to deliver the same concession <br />footage as in past years. Our ride grosses have been stable without raising ticket prices, I believe, due to the <br />fact that we have invested approximately two million dollars in new equipment including rides, concessions <br />and support equipment. <br />Over the past years we have seen an increase each year at the Cabamts County Fair and believe this will <br />happen this season due to the six brand new rides we will be providing at your event which includes the <br />Vortex which has shown to be very populaz this year.
