<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Commerce Department <br />Planning Division <br />Cabarrus County Government _ <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission <br />FRONT: Mike ByrdlCommerce Department~~ <br />DATE: August 11, 2008 <br />SUBJECT Amendment to the Cabanas County Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance <br />(FDPO) <br />Cabarrus County adopted the FDPO several years ago; to qualify County homeowners for <br />eligibility to be insured by government funded Flood Insurance. One requirement to be <br />eligible for the insurance was the adoption of Flood Insurance Rate 1Vlaps (FIRM) maps <br />for the County. <br />In coordination with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA}, North Carolina <br />updated the FIRiV1 maps for Cabarrus in 2007. After review from FEMA, these maps and <br />a revised FDPO are required to be adopted by the County to continue homeowner's <br />eligibility for flood insurance. <br />' A copy of the required amendment to the FDPO is attached, which was provided by <br />FEMA. A public hearing will need to be held by the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners on this text change.
