Maintain current internal notification/recall rosters and communications <br />systems. <br />2. Assist in warning and notifying the local population of an impending or <br />existing emergency situation. Provide specif c information on emergency situations to <br />emergency services, key officials, and special locations such as schools, hospitals, <br />nursing homes etc. <br />3. Conduct law enforcement operations within jurisdiction during the <br />emergency pei7od. Coordinate additional law enforcement support with other <br />municipalities within the county, other counties, and the North Carolina State Highway <br />Patrol during response operations. If the situation requires National Guard support, <br />request this support through the Emergency Management Coordinator. <br />4. If needed, provide a representative to the County Emergency Operations Center <br />to assist with law enforcement coordination. <br />5. Provide transportation resources for c~•itical emergency personnel and <br />equipment, as necessary. <br />6, Conduct traffic control to facilitate the movement of evacuees to shelters. <br />7. Provide security for the damaged/evacuated areas} and critical facilities. <br />Control access to and movement within these areas. <br />8 Provide security for reception centers, shelters, feeding facilities and the County <br />Receiving and Distribution Paint doting emergency operations. If Strategic National <br />Stockpile medications are deployed to Cabarrus County, be prepared to escort movement <br />of these supplies and provide security and crowd control at the dispensing sites. <br />9. Municipal law enforcement agencies will serve as the lead agency for the <br />activation and coordination of land search operations within their jurisdictions. <br />IV. DIRECTION AND CONTROL <br />A. The Sheriff is responsible for the direction and control of law enforcement activities <br />during emergencies. The Sheriff or his designee are part of the Operations Group in the <br />County Emergency Operations Center and will coordinate law enforcement operations from <br />the EOC during emergency situations. <br />B.
