~1 <br /> <br />the cause, size or complexity. <br />~ <br />~ . <br />National Response Framework (NRF) -The National Response Framework focuses on <br />response and short-term recovery and articulates the doctrine, principles and architecture by <br />which our nation prepares .for and responds to all-hazard disasters across ail levels of <br />government and all sectors of communities. The NRF also focuses on preparedness and <br />encourages a higher level of readiness across all jurisdictions. The NRF is the successor to <br />the National Response Plan. <br />Carolina Emer enc O erations Plan CEOP -The State lan desi ned to cover <br />North g y p (N ) p g <br />all natural and man-made emergencies and disasters that threaten the State. ~ <br />North Carolina General Statute {NCGS} -State Law by applicable statute. <br />Operational Period - A period of time set for execution of operational actions specified <br />in the Incident Action Plan. Traditionally these periods are itutially 12 to 24 hours in <br />length.. As the incident winds. down, they may cover longer periods of activity. ~ <br />Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Personal protective equipment is clothing or <br />devices worn to help isolate a person from direct exposure to a hazardous material or <br />situation. Recommended personal protective equipment is often listed on a Material <br />Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Tlus can include protective clothing, respiratory protection <br />and eye protection. <br />~~ <br />Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) - An assessment of damage taken immediately <br />following a disaster or potential disaster. Emphasis is on high-level infrastructure such as <br />roads and power production. <br />Public Health - A common function inmulti-hazard planning which focuses on general <br />health concerns under emergency conditions including provisions for accomplishing <br />those necessary actions related to disease and vector control activities. Concerns extend to <br />sanitation and preventing contamination of food and water. <br />Public Law (PL} -citation referring to the session of Congress enacting the law followed <br />by a number indicating the order of that Congress' laws in which it took effect. <br />Public Information Officer {PIO) -Official responsible for preparing and coordinating the <br />dissemination of public information in cooperation with other responding Federal, State, and <br />local government agencies. Also called Public Affairs Officer (PAO). <br />Reception Center - A donations management facility established to receive specific, <br />undesignated or unsolicited goods such as food, water, clothes and building supplies. <br />Recovery -Activity involves assistance to return the community to normal or near-normal <br />conditions.
