Cabarrus County Board of Elections
P.O. Box 1315
53 Corban Avenue, SE
Concord, NC 28026-1315
Phone 704-920-2860 Fax 704-920-2831
February 2, 2007
To: Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners
It is the intent of the Cabarrus County Board of Elections at their meeting Monday,
February 5"' at 5:00 p. m. to surplus the 12 Ivotronic Voting machines bought for
Cabarrus County, using Federal HAVA Grant money, and all consumables pertaining to
same. The Ivotronic Voting Equipment is the equipment used during one-stop voting
only.
The primary voting equipment used in Cabarrus County at each precinct is the M100
Optical Scan. The Election staff feels that the continued use of the paper ballot system
is much easier to use and more familiar to the voters and precinct officials in Cabarrus
County. The Election Board staff feels, due to the time limits and deadlines for each
election, it is much easier and less time consuming working with one type of voting
equipment rather than two systems when programming, testing, managing absentees,
during the sample recount after each election and other recounts as mandated.
The Board will sell the equipment and, under State Board of Election directive, deposit
the money into our HAVA account held at the State Board of Elections for future
purchases of equipment.
CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS
Linda C.
