GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />SESSION 2005 <br />SENATE BILL 386 <br />State and Local Government Committee Substitute Adopted 6/1/05 <br />Third Edition Engrossed 6/2/05 <br />House Committee Substitute Favorable 8/23/05 <br />Short Title Cabarrus Fire Districts (Local) <br />to: <br />March 7, 2005 <br />A BILL TO BE ENTITLED <br />AN ACT ALLOWING CABARRUS COUNTY TO CHANGE THE BOUNDARIES OF FIRE <br />DISTRICTS. <br />The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 558 of the 1987 Session Laws is amended by adding a new <br />section to read: <br />"SECTION 19.1. The Board of Commissioners may, effective the first day of July after the <br />adoption of an ordinance, change the boundaries of a fire district in Cabarrus County established <br />by this act, if: <br />(1) It first holds a public hearing on that ordinance, with notice published at least <br />14 days before the hearing. <br />(2) Makes available in the office of the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners a <br />map showing the proposed changes. <br />(3) No area will be in more than one fire district. <br />(4) No area shall be within the corporate limits of a municipality (except for any <br />area within the corporate limits of a municipality that is already within a fire <br />district under this act)." <br />SECTION 2.
