Cabarrus Helping Hearts and Hands Who we are: A committee of Cabarrus County employees, with repre- sentatives from each county department, that meets monthly to plan and implement charitable activities for fel- low employees Our Purpose: To engage county employees in giving back to the com- munity; to raise funds for local non-profit 501 (c) 3 organi- zations; to assist human service agencies (such as DSS) in their public assistance pursuits; to organize service projects in the community, such as drives and work days; to ad- minister an annual campaign fund drive; to seek donations of goods to assist individuals in need. How does Chi work? Cabarrus Helping Hearts and Hands, commonly re- ferred to as Chi, provides a way for Cabarrus County em- ployees to come together as a group to support the community. Chi was formed in 2004 by employees as a convenient way to make voluntary, tax deductible contri- butions to local non-profit organizations with the assur- ance that 100% of funds collected will be dispersed to the selected local charities. In addition, employees are notified of projects throughout the year to participate in events such as collection drives and volunteer opportunities to as- sistlocal non-profits organizations with specific needs. Chi is operated through ari employee-run committee. The committee is made up of department representatives who work together to make this program as efficient and practical as possible. The committee meets each month and operates under established by-laws, policies and pro- cedures. Sub-Committees (Walks, Drives, Services, and Annual Campaign) meet throughout the year to review, develop, and recommend charitable projects such as the school supply drive, canned food drive at the Cabarrus County Fair, or the Helping Hands Tree. -_'~
