COMMITTEE GOALS FOR 2007
1. Increase committee membership. Both Committees have a desperate need for new volunteers-at
the very least, both need enough volunteers to split into two subcommittees to divide their workload.
Make more friendly visits.
Invite County Commissioners to attend a Quarterly Visit with the CACs to witness:
a. the dedication of time and energy displayed by these volunteers;
b. the level of training required to serve on the CAC;
c. the importance of the work carried out by these committee members.
COMMITTEE SUPPORT
Committee members are trained and supported by the Ombudsman program of the Centralina
Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging. Local back-up is provided by the Cabarrus
County Departments of Aging and Social Services. We are grateful for their assistance throughout
the year.
COMMITTEE NEEDS
We appreciate the support of the County Commissioners and we welcome any efforts of the County
Commissioners to help increase CAC membership. Suggestions toward this end include:
1. Use the county website and email the county employee distribution list to increase awareness
of the need for CAC volunteers.
2. Inform individuals and/or groups you meet with in the community of the need.
3. Request that County Departments post information about the need for CAC volunteers in
newspapers, newsletters, and other informational sources.
4. Ask local employers to share information with their employees.
THE REGIONAL OMBUDSMAN WILL DISTRIBUTE THIS REPORT TO THE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, THE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES, AND THE NC
DIVISION OF AGING AND ADULT SERVICES.
Latiu^Le~T.,4booula.der.Re.~ionaLOmbud~rna.n.
