B. Supportive Services <br />1. Case Management <br />a. Description: The Employment case manager/social worker is the primary <br />coordinator of all services provided to the recipient. They must have a wide <br />knowledge of community partners. From the beginning of the process, the <br />case manager works with the recipient to move them toward independence, <br />when at all possible. The work of the case manager consists of arranging for <br />services, coordinating these services, counseling, training in job readiness, <br />assisting in crisis situations, and helping with financial and time management. <br />In areas where a recipient has been sanctioned due to non-compliance with <br />Work First requirements, the social worker will maintain contact for three <br />months to ensure that the children in the home are not being deprived. <br />b. Provision: The Work First Employment Social Worker will be case manager <br />of the case, and will be the primary provider of the above supportive services. <br />c. Location: Most services under case management will take place in one of <br />two places, DSS or the recipients' homes. In some instance, it is conceivable <br />that it may occur in school or the workplace. <br />2. Child Care <br />a. Description: Childcare will be available as funding permits for all employed <br />Work First recipients. If needed, Block Grant funding can be used to <br />purchase this service. <br />b. Provision: Staff of the Day Care Unit at the Department of Social Services <br />will manage childcare assistance. They will receive a referral from the Work <br />First Social Worker, and take and process the application for childcare, giving <br />the recipient counseling and the choice of providers for the care. <br />c. Location: Childcare assistance will be located at DSS. <br />3. Work-Related Expenses and Participation Expenses <br />a. Description: Work-related and participation expenses for Work First <br />recipients are costs that can be incurred and are directly related to obtaining <br />and maintaining a job, as determined by the Social Worker. These expenses <br />can consist of: clothing for work and interviews, tools, uniforms, daycare <br />registration, car repairs, car insurance, and tires. It is understood that these are <br />one-time expenses, and should not be provided if, by the social worker's <br />determination, that this will be ongoing, and will be needed on a regular basis <br />to maintain employment. Other work-related and participation expenses can <br />be approved, on an as needed and assessed basis, and approved by the Work <br />First Employment Supervisor. <br />b. Provision: Work-related and participation expenses will be provided by a <br />number of suppliers of these services. The Department has accounts with <br />several providers of these services. <br />c. Location: The locations for the provision ofwork-related and participation <br />expenses are found at various places around the county. <br />C~ ~' <br />
