2.1 Prohibited Discharae 6tandards
<br />(a) General Prohibitions; No user shall contribute or cause to be contributed into the POTW, directly or
<br />indirectly, any pollutant or wastewater which causes interference or pass through. These general prohibitions
<br />apply to all users of the POTW whether or not the user is a SIU or subject to any National, State, or local
<br />pretreatment standards or requirements.
<br />(b) Specific Prohibitions. No user shall conhibute or cause to be contributed into the POTW the following
<br />pollutants, substances, or wastewater:
<br />(1) Explosive migtures. ~ pollutant(s) which, either alone or by interaction with an other pollutant(s),
<br />creates a fire or explosive hazard in the POTW, including, but not limited to, waste streams with a
<br />closed cup fl8shpoint of less than one hundred forty (140) degrees Fahrenheit (sixry (60) degees
<br />Celsius) using the test methods specified in 40 CFR 26121.
<br />(2) Solid or viscous substances. Solid or viscous substances in amounu which will cause obstruction of
<br />the POTW resulting in interference but in no case solids greater than one half inch in any dimension.
<br />Prohibited materials include but are not limited to: gease, uncomminuted garbage, animal guts or
<br />tissues, paunch manure, bones, hair, hides or fleshings, entrails, whole blood, feathers, ashes, cinders,
<br />sand, spent li~ne, stone or mazble dust, metal, glass, straw, shavings, grass clippings, rags, spent
<br />grains, spent'hops, wastepaper, wood, tar, plastic, asphalt residues, residues from refining or
<br />processing of'fuel or lubricating oil, gound paper products, and material from grinders, residues or
<br />solids from a pretreatment facility, and similaz substances.
<br />(3) Petroleum, cutting or mineral oils. Petroleum oil, non-biodegradable cutting oil, or products of
<br />mineral oil origin, in amounts that will cause interference or pass through.
<br />(4) Corrosive wastes. Any wastewater having a pH less than 5.0 or more than 9.0 or wastewater having
<br />any other corrosive property capable of causing damage to the POTWu or equipment.
<br />(5) POTW interference. Any wastewater containing
<br />pollutants, including o7cygen-demanding pollutants, (BOD, etc.), '° °~~'r°'°°« ~°°°':~. ~~~... ~~
<br />sexisen~ien~ released in a discharee at a flow volume. flow rate and/or pollutant concentration
<br />which, either singly or by interaction with other pollutants, to cause interference with the POTW.
<br />(6) Temperature_ limit. My wastewater having a temperature geater than one hundred fifty Q50)
<br />degrees Fahrenheit (sixty-six (66) degrees Celsius), or which will inhibit biological activiry in the
<br />POTW treatment plant resulting in interference, but in no case wastewater which causes the
<br />temperature at the introduction into the treahnent plant to exceed one hundred four (104) degrees
<br />Fahrenheit (foity (40) degrees Celsius).
<br />(7) Toxic gases. Any pollutants which result in the presence of toxic gases, vapors or fumes within the
<br />POTW in a quantity that may cause acute worker health and safety problems.
<br />(8) Truck or haqled pollutants. My trvck or hauled pollutants, except at dischazge points designated by
<br />the Executive D'uector in accordance with Section 2.9 of this ordinance.
<br />(9) Oils and grease. Fats, oils, or greases of animal or vegetable origin in concentrations greater than ] 00
<br />mg/I. '.
