Box 707
Concord, NC 28026

Dear Mr. Day:

Attached is the proposal to place Automatic External Defibrillator's (AED'S) in some of
our facilities. The county will purchase 15 AED'S and receive a grant for 2 additional
units. The plan is to ultimately have 18 AED'S available for use in our county facilities.
The 18th unit is an existing unit located at the Arena that will be relocated to allow public
access.

Research has proven the effectiveness of early CPR and AED intervention. Survival rates
increase as much as thirty percent when these life saving procedures are utilized as an
early intervention for cardiac arrest.

The placement of these life saving devices in our public facilities, exhibits the
commitment and determination of Cabarrus County to serve its employees and the public
that uses our facilities.

Sincerely, 0!
7 #/
(/J dlt(~7-

David O.
