<br />XIL HEALTH INSURANCE PORTABILITY AND <br />ACCOUNTABILITY ACT OF 1996 <br /> <br />Any person's Protected Health Information (PHI) obtained as a result of <br />emergency use of the AED unit and reporting requirement thereof, or for any other <br />reason in connection with this program, will be treated as confidential in compliance with <br />Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIP AA), No PHI is to be <br />shared with anyone not directly involved with patient care. The North Carolina AED <br />Pilot Program does not require PHI. <br />Regarding an emergency use of the AED, this pilot program only requires notice <br />that a rescue event occurred, the outcome, the date and AED Site name.
