Pro Patria, when translated, means "For my country" and is the highest award given to a <br />civilian employer by the U.S. Department of Defense. Vulcan's Mideast Division has its headquarters <br />in Winston-Salem, N.C. <br /> <br />This award symbolizes uncommon patriotism by an employer. Vulcan was recognized for its <br />exceptional support of its employees and their families who also serve their country as Guardsmen and <br />Reservists. "Vulcan Materials Company-Mideast Division is highly supportive of Citizen Soldiers who <br />serve in the Guard and Reserve. They are understanding and supportive even when required duty comes <br />with little or no notice", says Lieutenant Colonel Tom Cathey and a Vulcan employee. <br /> <br />ESGR's Director of Committee Operations, Johnny Dwiggins, said "The Guard and Reserve make up <br />about one half of our nation's military.
