PROCLAMATION ,~" eabirusCounh) The Center 01 Amerltian Motorsl!fl~J NORTH CAROLINA CABARRUSCOUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials Company is the nation's largest producer of construction aggregates, primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel used in nearly all forms of construction; and WHEREAS, Vulcan's Mideast Division is headquartered in Winston-Salem and operates over 60 crushing and sales facilities in North Carolina and other states, including the local Cabarrus Quarry and Gold Hill Quarry, and employs approximately 1,300 people; and WHEREAS, the Mideast Division recently received the Pro Patria Award, the highest award given to civilian employers, from the North Carolina Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserve for outstanding support of its employees and their families who serve our country both at home and abroad as Guardsmen and Reservists; and WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials has long been recognized as a good corporate citizen for its commitment to the environment, its employees and the communities that it serves; and WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials through the years has been a strong supporter of Cabarrus County's Park System, providing price reductions or donations of rock materials for parking lots, trails and other facilities at County parks, and whereas Vulcan has provided the same to Cabarrus County Schools and many other non-profit organizations, NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby congratulates Vulcan Materials Company for having received the Pro Patria Award in recognition of the company's contribution to its employees and the nation and thanks Vulcan Materials for its continuing support of the men and women who serve our country and for its commitment to Cabarrus County and its citizens.
