<br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />,~" <br />eabirusCounh) <br />The Center 01 Amerltian Motorsl!fl~J <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />CABARRUSCOUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials Company is the nation's largest producer of <br />construction aggregates, primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel used in nearly all <br />forms of construction; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Vulcan's Mideast Division is headquartered in Winston-Salem <br />and operates over 60 crushing and sales facilities in North Carolina and other states, <br />including the local Cabarrus Quarry and Gold Hill Quarry, and employs approximately <br />1,300 people; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mideast Division recently received the Pro Patria Award, the <br />highest award given to civilian employers, from the North Carolina Employer Support <br />of the National Guard and Reserve for outstanding support of its employees and their <br />families who serve our country both at home and abroad as Guardsmen and Reservists; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials has long been recognized as a good corporate <br />citizen for its commitment to the environment, its employees and the communities that <br />it serves; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials through the years has been a strong supporter of <br />Cabarrus County's Park System, providing price reductions or donations of rock <br />materials for parking lots, trails and other facilities at County parks, and whereas <br />Vulcan has provided the same to Cabarrus County Schools and many other non-profit <br />organizations, <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby <br />congratulates Vulcan Materials Company for having received the Pro Patria Award in <br />recognition of the company's contribution to its employees and the nation and thanks <br />Vulcan Materials for its continuing support of the men and women who serve our <br />country and for its commitment to Cabarrus County and its citizens. <br /> <br />This the 20th day of February 2006. <br /> <br />Robert W.
