~
~

To: Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners

From: Kelly Sifford, AICP

Re: Furniture Planning Proposals

Date: April 20, 2006

A request for qualifications was issued on April 4th for furniture planning for the
Cabarrus County Sheriffs Office and Detention Center. The proposal was sent directly
to six firms by email and posted on the Cabarrus County Website. Firms directly
contacted included: Manning Design Group, Gregory Grier, Inc., Noland and Associates
Interior Designers, Dunlap Interiors, ESD Architecture, and Office Innovations. Staff
obtained either verbal or written confirmation of receipt of the RFQ's from all parties.
Staff received one response to the RFQ from Manning Design Group. The proposal
suggested a cost of$48,OOO-$58,000 plus reimbursables for the proposed range of
services for the project as defined by the RFQ. The Manning Design Group was found to
have acceptable experience in the field. Ware Bonsall's option on their original contract
for the furniture planning services was $49,500 plus reimbursables. Please advise staff
on how to proceed.

E-L
