This position <br />would assist the Teen Court Coordinator in supporting viable community service for the youth offenders. Provide a meaningful forum <br />for youth offenders and volunteers to develop competencies,( i.e., communication, team work and respect). <br />Strengthen the family unit through community resource referrals,(i.e, anger management or druglalcohol counseling). <br />Empower youth offenders and volunteers to be accountable for their actions. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />COMPONENT NARRATIVE (attach for each component) <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />(1) Describe the physical facilitie~, including the address, in which the services will be delivered. If services are <br />delivered at multiple locations, pl,ase include information for all locations. <br />The Conflict Resolution Center 0 Cabarrus County, Inc. along with Teen Court is locatep in the Cabarrus County <br />Courthouse, Third Floor, 77 Union Street S., Concord, North Carolina. The office space used is an in-kind donation <br />from the County. The office is handicapped accessibie. Program participants come to the office for intake interviews <br />and mediation. Teen Court sessions are held on the third floor in courtooms four and five. The courtrooms are <br />handicapped accessible. <br /> <br />(2) Identify paid or volunteer sta qualifications, (certificetions, degrees, work experience) and their responsibilities <br />relative to this com onent. <br />The Executive Director for the Center Is Jessie BlacRwelder. The Director serves, tracks, funds and interacts with the <br />Teen Court participants and parehts and helps with funding and reporting. The Director participates in community <br />education about the benefits and services Teen Court provides. Mrs. Blackwelder is a former educator/administrator <br />with Cabarrus County Schools. She has been with the Center for 6 years. She is a certified mediator for the state of <br />North Carolina and handles Crimipal Mediation for Cabarrus County District Court. Cynthia Seaforth is the Teen Court <br />Coordinator. She is responsible fQr the day-to-day management of the program. Cynthia is a graduate from Pfeiffer <br />University with a dual degree in Organizations Communications and Liberal Arts. She has been with Teen Court for <br />3.5 years. The coordinator is also a Certified Mediator for the State of North Carolina. The Coordinator is responsible <br />for maintaining accurate records, educating the public about Teen Court, recruiting new volunteers, obtaining new <br />community service worksites, anq monitoring existing worksite. <br /> <br />f:..\J:::> <br />Page 4 of 10 <br />
