(3) Describe the s ecific referral, screenin ,admission and termination procedures. <br />The primary soucre of referrals is Law Enforcement (this includes School Resource Officers). Other referralscome <br />from the Department of Juvenile Justice, District Court and attorney's, school guidance counselors and social workers. <br />Screening information is taken from the social history prepared by the referring representative and other investigative <br />reports. The participant and parent(s) must meet with the program coordinator for an explanation and acceptance of <br />the program requirements. A statement is taken from the youth regarding the facts of the incident and for admissions <br />the participants must meet the age requirement 11-16; secondly the participate is admitted when they are willing to <br />accept full responsibility for their actions. The parent and youth must sign the required forms provided by the <br />Coordinator. When the youth is terminated successfully they have complied with all the requirements set for by the <br />Teen Court jury. When the youth is terminated unsuccessfully they have reoffended while in Teen Court supervision, <br />failed to complete all the requirements set forth by the Teen Court jury; failed to pay restitution and/or refused to submi <br /> <br />(4) Describe im lementation to include: <br />a) The primary and supplemental services provided, if applicable: <br />The primary services provided are intervention and restitution. Through Teen Court ourgoal is to' reduce'furttrer' . <br />contact with the judicial system. <br /> <br />b) The means of working with youth and families: <br />The program coordinator stays in contact with the participants and his/her parent(s)/guardians from the intake to <br />completion. During the intake program requirements are explained and necessary forms are signed by the youth and <br />parenVguardian. A Teen Court sentence date is scheduled, At the Teen Court session the Coordinator is there to <br />answer any questions; Community Service - the Coordinator assigns worksite and documentation is given to the youth <br />to keep track of community service hours, Parents are given the name of the Community .Service representative and . <br />contact number. When all sentence requirements are met the parents and the referring 'agent or agency is sent a <br />completion letter. The parents and youth are sent exit evaluations, <br /> <br />c) The daily activities: <br />Daily activities include: receiving new referrals; conducting intakes of potential Teen Court participants; updating <br />referral data base of new participants; scheduling appointments for new referrals; typing appointment, completion <br />letters and monitoring existing participants to ensure compliance with the program, Additonal activities include <br />conferring with Juvenile Justice Intake Counselor, juvenile court counselors, school resource officers, local police, <br />sheriffs, attorney's and aS,sistant district attorney's, Answering questions about the Teen Court program to interested <br />youth and parents, When necessary visit schools to meet with youth offenders. Working with interns from various <br />colleges. Reading apology letters and essay's.
